Care
How to make a WEARON piece last for decades. The right care extends garment life by years.
Most fabric damage comes from over-washing, high heat, and the wrong cleaning solvents — none of which are necessary for most everyday wear.
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out. Air dry. Iron on medium heat while slightly damp for the cleanest finish. Use oxygen bleach (never chlorine) for whites if needed.
Hand wash cold or wool/delicate cycle in a mesh bag. Lay flat to dry — never hang wet. Steam to refresh. Iron only on lowest setting with a press cloth.
Hand wash cold or delicate machine cycle. Hang to dry inside out, away from sunlight. Iron on silk setting if needed. Spot-clean stains immediately with cold water.
Hand wash only. Elastic threads degrade in machine washing and high heat. Lay flat to dry. Don't iron the smocked sections directly.
Machine wash cold inside out, regular cycle. Air dry. Iron on medium with a press cloth over embroidery, foil, or appliqué. Skip ironing for natural texture.
Clean before storing. Use breathable cotton garment bags, not plastic. Cedar blocks or lavender sachets — never mothballs. Cool, dry, dark space. Refold every few months.
Cold water rinse from the back of the fabric (push the stain out, not through). For oils, use mild dish soap. For wine and protein-based stains, cold water and an enzyme-free pre-treatment. Never use hot water on a fresh stain — it sets it.
For anything you're not confident about: bring or send it to our atelier. We maintain a stain-removal service for clients.
